Q: What is the difference between the aLOKSAK and OPSAK bags?
A: The film. The aLOKSAK is made of a very durable film that is a bit softer than the OPSAK film. If you do not have any concerns about odor or oxygen transmission, we recommend the aLOKSAK. The aLOKSAK can withstand heat up to 125 to 130 degrees and extreme cold. The film will stay pliable and manageable down to minus 40 degrees.
The OPSAK uses a barrier film that can withstand heat up to 170 degrees and will only allow trace amounts of oxygen transmission.
The seals and closures on the aLOKSAK and OPSAK are identical.
Q: Should I test my bags before trusting them with my valuables?
A: Yes, and we strongly recommend it. Testing ensures you know how to seal the bag properly before use. Blow a small amount of air into the bag, then seal it firmly but gently. Start from one corner and make a smooth seal across the bag, making sure the tracks line up with no kinks. Submerge the bag in water and press gently on the side. If a steady stream of air bubbles appears, the bag is defective and will be replaced. We stand by our bags, but we cannot ensure every user will take the time to seal and test them properly. That part is up to you.
Q: Do you guarantee these bags will perform exactly as stated?
A: Yes. When sealed properly, the bags will perform exactly as described. Review the Q&A section and replace the bag when it shows signs of extended use, as described in question 4.
Q: Will I ever need to replace these bags? If so, when?
A: The bags themselves are extremely durable. However, the closure and tracks are made of a softer, more pliable film to ensure full contact and a complete seal. The closures will show wear before the bag body does. Signs include the tracks separating from the closure, the closure splitting, or the closure detaching from the bag body. This is expected with extended use. We strongly recommend replacing bags before the seal becomes defective while in use.
Q: What is the life span of a bag?
A: There is no way to determine how often a bag will be used or how roughly it will be handled. The better care you take of the bag, the longer it will last. The bags are disposable and must be replaced after extended use. Think of them like batteries, bandages, or ink cartridges. They have a specific purpose and a finite life span. When a bag begins to show wear, replace it.
Q: What if I test the bag and find it is defective?
A: To check if your bag is defective, please follow this guide. If your bag is defective, call (239) 331-5550 or contact us to obtain a Return Authorization (RA) number. Send the bag to LOKSAK, Inc. PO BOX 7127 Naples, FL 34101. An RA number is required to return any bag, and the defective bag must be included to receive a free replacement. We do not replace bags that show normal wear. A defective bag will be replaced if returned within 30 days of purchase. Proof of purchase including date via a store receipt or paid invoice must be included with the return.
Q: How long does it take to receive replacement bags?
A: Once we receive the bag and confirm it is defective, we will ship a replacement immediately.
Q: Can I pour boiling water into the OPSAK?
A: Yes. You can pour boiling water into the OPSAK to rehydrate or cook food. Do not place the bag into boiling water.
Q: Can touch screen devices be operated while inside the bag?
A: Yes. All touch screen functions work normally while a device is protected inside an aLOKSAK bag.
Q: Can I remove the text on the bag?
A: Yes. We recommend denatured alcohol. You may also use paint remover or nail polish remover, but denatured alcohol is the least abrasive option and will not harm the bag.
Q: Can I use electronics while they are protected in the aLOKSAK or OPSAK?
A: Most electronics can be used while protected in the bags, including making and receiving phone calls. Wireless signals are not diminished.
Q: Is it safe to store metal items such as firearms in the bag for extended periods of time?
A: Yes. However, we strongly suggest also using a small rust inhibitor such as a VCI (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor) to prevent rust during long-term storage. One source for VCI chips is www.theinhibitor.com.
Q: Are the bags heat resistant? Are there any sunlight or heat exposure concerns?
A: The aLOKSAK is heat tolerant up to 125 to 130 degrees. The OPSAK can handle up to 170 degrees. Do not leave the bags in environments where heat can build up, such as a closed car, a metal container in direct sun, or any enclosed space with prolonged heat exposure.
Q: How are the dimensions of the bags measured?
A: All dimensions listed are outer dimensions. The tracks of the seal are placed approximately half an inch from the top of the bag. The bags are flat with no gusset. See aLOKSAK or OPSAK dimensions.
Q: Can I order custom bags?
A: Yes. A custom bag is one that requires a size, color, closure, or shape not currently in our inventory. Custom options include custom color closures, custom text, die-cut holes, custom film colors, or custom shapes with added tooling. Q: What quantities are needed for a custom run?
A: Minimum quantities are high due to the blown film requirements of our film supplier. Smaller bags require higher minimum quantities. Larger bags require lower minimums.
Q: What is the lead time for a custom run?
A: Six to eight weeks. In some cases it may take up to ten weeks, but we do our best to stay within the six to eight week window.
Q: Can my company order in bulk?
A: Yes. OEM and bulk pricing is available. We supply bulk bags to manufacturers looking to enhance a product, as well as to government agencies, law enforcement, search and rescue teams, medical companies, and all branches of the military. Bulk bags are not intended to be sold as standalone retail items. Retail markets require packaged product.
Q: Are there BPA or other harsh chemicals in the aLOKSAK or OPSAK bags?
A: No, absolutely none. aLOKSAK and OPSAK bags are FDA approved. Material Safety Data Sheets are available upon request.
