What the pouch does

Most of a hardware wallet's life is spent in a drawer or a safe. Store it sealed in a pouch between uses, take it out when you need to sign, and put it back when you are done.

What a Faraday pouch does not do
A pouch does not remove a hidden implant, make a tampered device trustworthy, or protect a recovery phrase that has already been exposed. In the recent tampered hardware wallet case, the recovery phrase was captured while the device was being set up, outside any bag. It also does not stop phishing links, fake wallet apps, or SIM swaps.
Buy hardware wallets directly from the manufacturer. If you think a device was tampered with, move your funds to a new device from the manufacturer with a new recovery phrase. A pouch is one layer on top of good sourcing, not a substitute for it.
Test it yourself
Seal a phone in the pouch, wait a few seconds, and call it. If it rings, the pouch is not working. Repeat the test every few months, since conductive fabric can wear at creases over time.
